1 Corinthians 9:22: To the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
Paul holds himself up as an example. To the weak he became like a weak person; he accommodated himself to their prejudices so that he might win them over to better views. And he wanted the Corinthians to do the same. I have become all things to all men. This generalizes all that had been said. It was not to this or that group that he was conciliatory, but to all sorts, and this regarding all matters not intrinsically affecting salvation, so that by all possible means I might save some. 1
