Proverbs 31:30c: A woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Insight

Godly women do not succeed in their own strength. The book of Proverbs ends where it began: ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.’ Because of the Fall, virtue does not come naturally. A woman may be tempted to abandon her role as helper and may desire to dominate her husband. But the woman who turns to God in faith is forgiven her sin and receives a new nature. A common complaint I hear from some women is ‘I’d be an excellent wife if he were a better husband.’ The virtuous woman does not put her ultimate trust in a man, not even her husband. She serves God in her home with the strength that God supplies. 1

Application

To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.” Genesis 3:16

The thought of a husband ruling over a wife is not a very acceptable concept today. However, it does not negate God’s plan for marriage. Regardless of a husbands worthiness, a wife should seek to fear God by obeying His word in all that she does. As a wife puts her trust completely in God, there is a renewed hope, knowing that God will see you through every situation.

Motivation

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Proverbs 1:7

We fail, not for lack of knowledge, but for a lack of fearing the Lord. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, thank You for inviting me to praise You, for You have overcome my fears.
