Proverbs 31:30b: Beauty is passing.

Insight

Her husband’s attachment to her is well founded—not on deceitful and vain charms of beauty, but on one who fears the Lord. She is therefore in his eyes to the end, a support in his declining years. She soothes his cares, and she comforts him in sorrow. 1

Application

Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:4

The beauty of a wife to her husband is beyond the beauty of her face and physical appearance. The beauty of his wife is seen through her encouraging words in his uncertainty. Her support when he feels like a failure. Her belief that he is her hero no matter what happens. Her beauty is seen in her confidence in him, by not complaining, but instead smiling that smile, that we are both in this together to the very end. That is beauty beyond beauty.

Motivation

For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits. James 1:11

What you portray is temporal, but who you are is eternal. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, thank You for teaching me that You bring beauty for ashes.
